Eco Schools Green Flag award
At the end of the Summer Term we were awarded the Eco Schools Green Flag award, for our efforts to improve our School and make it greener. We are the only secondary Schools in the Bromley area to achieve this and one of only 12 Secondary Schools across London so we are very proud. Gaining this involved a lot of hard work from our Eco Committee and the cooperation of the whole school community. It also involved working with the wider Chislehurst community. We hope to continue our work through the coming year.
On sports day the Eco Committee had a stand, where we challenged students and staff to see if they could identify which was the tap water from a selection of unlabelled tap and bottled water. Over 150 people took part but interestingly 72% did not correctly identify the tap water! We are really encouraging students to opt for a refillable water bottle rather than buying bottled water either in school or outside school. Not only is it better for the environment by reducing the amount of plastic waste we create, it also saves money !
This term our Eco committee will be meeting on Wednesday lunchtimes Week B in N9. Look out for further notices about this
Sports Day
This year at Sports Day, the Eco Committee will be challenging you once again to see if you really can tell the difference between expensive, shop bought water in a plastic bottle and ordinary tap water! We will also be selling our own design refillable water bottles!
Our ongoing battle against litter
Our Year 9 litter pickers are back in action, giving up their spare time to clean up our school environment to improve it for our staff, students and any insects and mammals. Well done to Kayleigh, Isabella, Erin & Stephanie
